Baking is a fantastic activity for young children. It encourages creativity, teamwork, and those all-important fine motor skills. Plus, the end result is always delicious!
Here are a few egg-cellent recipe ideas to get you started:
Bunny Carrot Muffins:
These adorable muffins are not only cute but also healthy and packed with goodness.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup grated carrots
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oats, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, honey, and egg. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Fold in grated carrots.
- Fill muffin cups batter and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly before frosting.
For the frosting:
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

Ingredients:
- 6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
- 1/2 cup butter
- 10 marshmallow squares
- Pink and white candy melts
- Sprinkles
Instructions:
- Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted.
- Remove from heat and stir in Rice Krispie cereal until well coated.
- Press mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Let cool completely, then cut into bunny shapes using a cookie cutter.
- Melt pink and white candy melts according to package directions. Dip the bottom half of each bunny in pink candy melt and let cool.
- Use white candy melt to pipe on eyes and a nose.
- Add sprinkles for decoration.
Cheesy Veggie Pinwheels:
These pinwheels are bursting with colourful veggies and melty cheese, making them a fun and nutritious snack for little ones. They’re easy to customize with your child’s favourite vegetables and can be prepped ahead of time for a quick and grab-and-go option.
Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of whole-wheat tortilla
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup finely chopped bell peppers (red, yellow, or orange)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped cucumber
- 1/4 cup finely chopped spinach
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the cream cheese evenly over the tortilla.
- Sprinkle the cheddar cheese, bell peppers, cucumber, and spinach over the cream cheese.
- Roll up the tortilla tightly, starting from the short end.
- Cut the roll into 1-inch slices.
